I was also a first generation college student; I was raised for a time by a single parent in a low-income household, and English was my second language when I came to the U.S. as a refugee from Viet Nam. I now hold both bachelor’s (UC Santa Cruz) and master’s degrees (Sofia University), but it took a lot of hard work and dedication. I’m here to support and guide you as you work toward your objectives, and know that with perseverance and the support of caring programs like EOPS, you too can achieve your educational goal!

Education has always been an opportunity to make a dream become a reality. Coming from a small town in Humboldt County to a large city like San Jose, I have been able to pursue my purpose in helping others along their journey. I appreciate all the students and staff in EOPS that have allowed me to live my dream day in and day out at Mission College. Go Saints!

Education has always been important in my family - those who attended college were able to aspire to higher careers and better support their families. My mom was the first woman to have a career in our family and I saw what a difference it made in her life. I received my under graduate degree from Fresno State and my masters in counseling from Santa Clara University. Students - I want to both encourage and support you in your journey. Life often gets in the way - so know we are here to help support you even when you hit a road bump - don't hesitate to ask us for help and guidance along the way!

Education is my passion! I am so happy to be here as part of a team that gives you tools and support to help you achieve your goals. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from San Jose State University. I am currently looking into programs to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology, with the ultimate goal of becoming a therapist. I am here to help, so please reach out whenever you need assistance with EOPS or beyond! Taking advantage of the resources available to you is the best way to reach success. When you face an obstacle in your path, find a way over or around, but never give up on your dreams!

I am extremely passionate about the pursuit of higher education and I have dedicated my life to helping students achieve their dreams of a college education. I am a First-Generation college graduate. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. I plan to pursue my Master’s in Higher Education. My personal philosophy for student support is that students shouldn’t struggle through college. They should be challenged but not struggle. If you find yourself in that moment of struggle, we are here!
